School of Underlying Conditions

Associate Professor Uzoma logged drill core for a state geological survey before joining the University, and kept a private count of the metres that never came up. Her research concerns core loss: the intervals a drill run fails to recover, the wooden blocks that stand in for them in the tray, and what a borehole log is entitled to say about rock nobody has seen. She leads the School's laboratory work on recovered core and its field mapping of the ground the core was meant to explain.
