Mr Ilesanmi came to the University from five years administering a regional sporting association's small-grants round, a job spent mostly writing the notices that told clubs which arrangements were temporary and then reading them again, unchanged, three seasons later. His doctoral research follows 269 arrangements marked temporary across nine volunteer-run clubs for nineteen months, and finds the scheduled review to be the means by which such arrangements are confirmed rather than ended. He works within the School of Emergent Priorities under Dr Lindiwe Achterberg and Professor Verity Marris.
