Gossip Consensus, Canary Rollouts, and the Price Tag That Missed the Beacon
A paper from the School of Emergent Priorities builds a gossip-based anti-entropy layer, staged canary rollout, and version-vector reconciliation rule for a 40-store electronic shelf label network, and finds the design compresses the tail of full-fleet price convergence sharply while leaving its median largely unchanged. A canary-removal ablation shows the staged rollout contributes nothing to convergence speed, functioning instead as a conflict-containment mechanism.
