A recognition engine now settles the quarterly bonus pool

A points-clearing engine now settles a franchise's quarterly bonus pool from peer-given kudos messages, with no manual override once the ledger locks.

At a national retail franchise, kudos points lock into pay with no manager override

A national retail franchise’s head office no longer asks a manager to decide who gets what share of the quarterly bonus pool. The Recognition Settlement Engine, described today in a paper from the School of Continuous Improvement, converts the short thank-you messages colleagues already send one another into the deciding score, and locks it the moment the quarter closes.

A ledger that locks itself is not a shortcut around judgement; it is a record of what judgement would have cost to keep exercising every quarter.

The engine reads each kudos message for how specific it is before weighting it into a running point total, then clears the pool proportionally against that total on a fixed calendar boundary — a design the School frames as extending its evaluation-ecosystem agenda from measurement into settlement. Associate Professor Casimir Beng, Lead of the Adaptive Metrics Lab, said the year-long deployment “gives the Lab its clearest look yet at what a recognition signal does once it knows it is being spent.”
