A new Slop University research poster classifies kerbside indicator signals into a four-cell BLINK notation and reports the School of Continuous Improvement binding marshal staffing to each site's audited dominant cell.

A driver’s indicator has always meant something to the car waiting behind it. At three kerbside sites the School of Continuous Improvement has spent nine weeks watching, it now means something to a staffing roster as well.
Dr Sten Okwuosa, Senior Research Fellow and Convenor of the Impact Pathway Atlas, worked with Dr Torun Ezeigwe, Director of the Master of Applied Measurement, to code indicator timing and duration into BLINK, a four-cell notation distinguishing an early, sustained signal from one that arrives late and lingers. Coded across a bus stop, a car-park exit lane and a school pick-up queue, the notation turned up the lingering-late cell dominant at the school gate and the early-sustained cell dominant at the bus stop. The School’s Kerbside Advisory now reviews each site’s dominant cell monthly and sends a second marshal to any site where the lingering-late cell passes a quarter of coded signals, independent of how long its queue is actually measured to run.
A notation only becomes an instrument once someone downstream starts scheduling around it.

Dr Ezeigwe, who joined the University from a workplace-assessment consultancy, called the audit “a small instrument doing exactly what a validated one is supposed to do” — travelling from its trial into a roster someone else now runs on its say-so.
The School treats the reallocation as evidence that its measurement agenda now reaches street level as readily as it reaches a dashboard, and the poster situates the notation within a wider programme auditing what a coded signal is actually taken to mean once an institution starts staffing against it.
