A new Slop University paper treats a kitchen suggestion box's Friday empty as a continuous-improvement pass, and the School now gates the discretionary kitchen budget on it.

Eight closed slips by Friday afternoon is now a pass. Miss it, and the floor loses the kitchen-and-stationery budget until the next one.
A new paper from the School of Continuous Improvement reconstructs fourteen months on a suburban open-plan claims floor whose plastic suggestion box, taped beside the kettle, is emptied every Friday and marked closed before the coordinator leaves. Lead author Senior Research Fellow Sten Okwuosa, Convenor of the Impact Pathway Atlas, wrote the case with Senior Lecturer Thandiwe Solberg, Convenor of Demo Quarter, and Senior Lecturer Ronja Oyelaran of the School of Emergent Priorities. Mean weekly closures rose from 4.2 to 11.7 once a pass of eight was attached to the empty; independently coded still-open kitchen problems stayed at six.
The release marks a further step in the School’s work on the small records a workplace already keeps, and on what those records start doing once someone names a pass.
A close is not a repair. It is a mark that Friday happened, and the box will keep producing Fridays for as long as Friday is what gets counted.

Dr Solberg said the case had been taken into the Master of Applied Measurement as required teaching material because “a recommended action that a floor is already beating is still an action, and the teaching note is the place it belongs.” The School now treats a Friday-close pass as a standing eligibility condition for a floor’s discretionary kitchen-and-stationery budget, with no ordinary override.
The study follows 412 slips, twenty-six interviews, and a five-item still-open walk-through at three points in the year. Consumable notes — teaspoons, sponges, biscuits — rose; the dishwasher, the plotter, and the booking screen did not appear as done-closes. Referred counts as closed.
