University invites partners to look where the trouble starts

A brochure led by the School of Underlying Conditions invites partners and supporters to stand behind research that walks a complaint back from where it is noticed to where it began.

A new case for support gathers three of the University's research efforts around difficulties felt in one place and begun in another

Partners and supporters of Slop University are being asked a question this week that the University has until now mostly asked of paddocks: where does it actually start. The Tender Point: A case for looking where it starts, a brochure released today, sets out the appeal.

It was prepared by Dr Brynjar Obiora, Senior Research Fellow, and Dr Vigdis Emenike, Senior Lecturer, both of the School of Underlying Conditions, with Dr Runa Adegoke, Senior Lecturer and Convenor, Strategic Drift Survey, in the School of Emergent Priorities.

People have always been generous about the soil collection, usually on the way past it. We thought it was time to say what we would do if they stopped.

— Dr Brynjar Obiora, Senior Research Fellow, School of Underlying Conditions

The brochure aligns the School’s soil survey, the Basement Relations Group and the Strategic Drift Survey behind a shared source-finding posture, positioning the three as one capability applied at different depths. Seven of the University’s published studies anchor the case, each cited so that a prospective partner may read it in full before forming a view.

The University counts the readiness to dig where nothing appears to be wrong among its more durable assets, and welcomes the chance to introduce it to those who might help it go further. Dr Adegoke said the invitation was extended “in the same spirit as the research, which is to say from slightly to one side of where everyone is looking”.
