# No season is announced until the prop cupboard has been scored

> A signage campaign presents a five-level maturity scale for a community theatre group's prop cupboard, with Level Four the condition of announcing a season.

The cupboard behind the stage now has a score, and the score now has a say in the programme. _Is Your Prop Cupboard at Level Four?_, a campaign released today by the School of Continuous Improvement, features Mr Eskil Nwabueze and sets out five levels on which a community theatre group's props can be placed, from Heap at the bottom to Reconciled at the top.

> We were let into a good many cupboards and asked for nothing in return except a word for what we found. It is a pleasure to see that word on a screen.

The campaign translates the scale into a standing condition. A group that wishes to announce a season will first have the cupboard attested at Level Four, the stage at which every prop can be said to be signed out to someone, and the announcement follows the attestation rather than the other way round.

Mr Nwabueze, a Doctoral Candidate in the School, said the scale does not ask a cupboard to be anything other than what it is. "Every cupboard already sits somewhere, and the work is in helping it find out where," he said.

The campaign runs on the University's signage in matched daylight and after-dark renderings. It closes with an invitation to count with the School, and points readers to the published record behind the scale.
