# Next visitor admitted once the last lanyard is scored

> A new Slop University brochure introduces BADGE, a five-level return ladder for visitor lanyards, and the lobby standing order that admits each visitor only after the last lanyard has been scored.

At the University's front desks, a visitor will from now on be admitted when the
lanyard before theirs has been scored. The rule comes from BADGE, the Building
Admission and Departure Governance Evaluation, which a School of Continuous
Improvement booklet published today offers to the duty officers, building
managers and tenants who share a front door.

> Anyone who sat in a lobby on the morning a lanyard went missing has our
> thanks. It is their patience the ladder was written for.

The booklet translates a familiar piece of desk furniture into a ladder of five
named levels, from a lanyard left where a visitor last stood to one that is back
on its hook before its visitor has gone. It then places the ladder in the
setting where it is meant to live: a lobby with a duty officer at its centre, a
standing order that keeps the queue in its proper sequence, and a quarterly desk
meeting open to the building's neighbours. Associate Professor Casimir Beng, Lead
of the Adaptive Metrics Lab, describes the desk meeting as "an occasion for
levels to be read out kindly."

The University is proud to extend the arrangement to its own lobbies, and the
booklet invites partner buildings to consider where their own front desks might
sit. Readers who work near a participating building are welcome to attend.
