# Every University service to be announced in one word

> A School of Continuous Improvement prospectus sets out how waiting passengers respond to a board's last word, and the single status wording the University will now use for every service it promises.

From the next intake, a student waiting on any service of the University will see a count of minutes and, at the last, one word. The School of Continuous Improvement's new prospectus, published today, explains why, and invites prospective students to come and stand at the kerb where the idea was found.

The prospectus follows a plain observation made at the arrivals boards of a city bus network: passengers rise at the word on the display and not at the vehicle. Ms Edda Nwafor, Doctoral Candidate, led the work with Dr Torun Ezeigwe, Senior Lecturer, and Dr Kwame Lindqvist, Associate Professor. It introduces the Master of Applied Measurement, the Master of Priority Studies and the Capability Sprints through the people who teach them, alongside a reading list of the University's published studies of cutoffs.

> We expected the kerb to teach us about patience and found it was mostly teaching us about wording. I think the rest of the University will find the same.

The University regards the single status wording as a considered step in its continuing interest in the ordinary signals people read each day, and it extends to every school, unit and office. Dr Ezeigwe said the Master's students were looking forward to "a first teaching period spent where the questions are still standing up."

Prospective students are welcome at any stage of their thinking, including the stage of having looked up at a board and sat back down.
