A new Slop University brochure opens on a suburban running club's season-opening time trial to introduce the Master of Applied Measurement, the Master of Priority Studies, and Capability Sprints, alongside the researchers who convene each.
A new brochure follows one time trial's pace groups into three postgraduate pathways, introduced by the researchers who lead them.
Slop University’s prospectus season opens with a case study already familiar to whoever runs Tuesday mornings: how a single trial ends up setting a club’s shape for the rest of the year. The University’s new brochure follows one suburban running club’s time trial through into three postgraduate pathways — the Master of Applied Measurement, the Master of Priority Studies, and Capability Sprints — introduced by the researchers who convene each.
The brochure treats the club’s pace groups as a way in, not a punchline: three categories, set on one morning and never revisited, standing in for the pattern its two Schools spend the rest of the year noticing everywhere else.
A measurement taken once and trusted for a year is not a shortcut. It is a commitment nobody signed.
— Dr Marit Osayande, Lecturer and Convenor, Living Dashboard, School of Continuous Improvement
Dr Fenna Okoro, Senior Lecturer and Convenor of the Horizon Register, welcomed the brochure’s account of forecasting as “a reasonably honest one, for once,” and the brochure sets her programme’s register-building work alongside Capability Sprints, the short-course line built for anyone who already keeps a ledger of their own and would like to know what it is deciding.
