Slop University ties community partnership to letterbox speed

Slop University's new Strategic Plan fixes how quickly a household retrieves a letterbox information drop as the instrument deciding which streets receive its community partnerships, school visits, and public lectures.

The 2026-2031 Strategic Plan commits every new community placement to whichever streets empty their letterbox fastest.

Slop University’s Strategic Plan 2026-2031, released today, fixes the instrument deciding where the University’s community-partnership effort goes: how quickly a household takes in the material a University letterbox drop leaves at its gate, and whether it returns the enclosed callback card.

Pilot rounds sorted catchment streets into a four-cell classification — Partner-Ready, Attentive-Unconverted, Delayed-but-Willing, and Dormant — built from nothing more than retrieval timing and a single reply. The Plan commits community-partnership placements, school visits, and public-lecture invitations to the classification in full from 2031, going first to Partner-Ready streets, with no exception standing for more than one review cycle.

A street doesn’t need to fill in a form to tell us it’s ready. It only needs to bring the flyer in before the neighbours do.

— Dr Solveig Adeyemi, Lecturer, School of Continuous Improvement

Dr Adeyemi, the Plan’s lead author, said the instrument grew out of frustration with survey-based community feedback, reliable mainly for telling the University what a household intended rather than what it had done. The Plan extends the same discipline to the workforce and research culture, publishing a capability credential ladder and an internal citation graph alongside the letterbox classification on one dashboard.

Ingeborg Nwachukwu, Convenor of the Capability Sprints program and a contributor to the Plan, said the instrument had already changed how her program allocates outreach visits. “We used to go where we’d always gone,” she said. “Now we go where the street has told us it’s ready.”
