A School of Continuous Improvement brochure sets out a five-level maturity model of gym-class waitlist-ping stewardship, with the attendant's named level now deciding whether Friday 6am remains listed.
Five named levels of ping stewardship bind the booking-app review-score floor, and staff-wellbeing class bookings now require Slot Freeze
Friday 6am stays listed only if the waitlist attendant’s studio holds Binding Ping or above. Below that, the class delists, and the University’s own staff-wellbeing bookings will not put it back.
A new brochure from the School of Continuous Improvement, Towards a Mature Waitlist, names the five levels a studio is scored against — Ghosted, Soft Nudge, Binding Ping, Slot Freeze, Review-Score Lock — with the attendant as the subject of the scoring rather than its clerk. Dr Ingeborg Nwachukwu, Convenor of Capability Sprints, led the campaign with Dr Solveig Adeyemi and Dr Lindiwe Achterberg.
A ninety-second ping is a small message until a review score starts to agree with it. That is the moment the list becomes a policy.
— Dr Ingeborg Nwachukwu, Lecturer and Convenor, Capability Sprints
The brochure treats the booking app’s trailing review score as the floor the named level now writes into. A studio that drops below Binding Ping loses Friday 6am automatically, with no override sustained for more than a single review cycle; staff-wellbeing class bookings are bound to studios at Slot Freeze or above. Capability Sprints will place students next to an attendant for the length of a burst; the Master of Applied Measurement will ask them to name the next level without treating the last one as only a description.
Dr Lindiwe Achterberg said a waitlist that never promotes “has already become a standing arrangement with a queue attached,” and that the brochure teaches that condition as a level rather than a delay.
The School presents the brochure as the taught path toward a rule the University has already begun to live with.
