Capability Sprints places applicants inside a live performance review

A new brochure from the School of Continuous Improvement invites applicants into Capability Sprints' practicum placements inside partner employers' live review cycles, and confirms that a graduate's certificate stays valid only while their own workplace score holds above Level 3.

A new brochure ties the certificate's own standing to the five-level ladder graduates are scored against on the job

A performance review, at partner sites across retail, hospitality and logistics, now opens with a number before it opens with a conversation. The School of Continuous Improvement’s newest brochure invites prospective Capability Sprints applicants directly into that number: a practicum placement inside a partner employer’s own live review cycle, working alongside the researchers who built the five-level maturity ladder the cycle already runs on.

You should never certify a ladder you haven’t climbed yourself. Every Sprint graduate has climbed one for real, with real money sitting on top of it.

— Dr Ronja Oyelaran, Senior Lecturer, School of Emergent Priorities

The brochure sets out Capability Sprints’ five named short courses, from Leading with Metrics through to Improving Improvement, and confirms a detail prospective applicants have long asked about: a graduate’s certificate remains current only while their own workplace practice holds at Level 3 or above at the employer’s next scheduled review, with no exception made for tenure or seniority. Dr Osei Vandermeer, Research Fellow and Convenor of the Review Cadence Observatory, said the requirement reflects how seriously the programme takes the instruments it teaches: “a certificate that never gets re-tested against the ladder isn’t really a credential, it’s a memory.”
