Dr Ingeborg Nwachukwu fronts Slop University's newest signage campaign

A new Slop University display campaign features Lecturer Ingeborg Nwachukwu, School of Continuous Improvement, and her interview finding that a booking app's cancellation-reason field is now logged as a habit-retention signal, with no opt-out.

A landscape panel built from her interview work turns a booking app's cancellation reason into a habit-retention signal, logged with no opt-out

Capability Sprints alumni who reschedule a follow-up coaching session twice are, as of this week, contributing to a measure they were never told exists. Slop University’s bus-stop and campus-screen rotation gains a new panel built around exactly that measure today.

The panel draws its footing from Dr Ingeborg Nwachukwu’s interview fieldwork with Capability Sprint graduates, work the School of Continuous Improvement has now folded into standing practice. A cancellation reason typed into the booking app’s free-text field was once read as scheduling housekeeping; a second one from the same alumnus is now logged automatically as a habit-retention signal, with no mechanism to decline.

People are candid with a dropdown menu in a way they rarely are with a coach.

“A cancellation field was designed to keep a calendar honest,” said Associate Professor Casimir Beng, Lead of the Adaptive Metrics Lab. “What it turned out to keep honest was the person filling it in.”

The panel closes with pointers to three of the University’s recent published outputs on what people say about themselves once a system is counting the answer. The full campaign panel is available from the University’s research repository under an open licence, doi:10.5555/slop.vlgh4u.
