The School of Continuous Improvement has appointed Dr Mirela Hanke deputy convenor of the Living Dashboard, with a standing brief to audit which of the wall's indicators have migrated from measurement to decision proxy.

The Living Dashboard has always had one seat, and one job for it: keep the wall lit. The School of Continuous Improvement has now added a second, held by Dr Mirela Hanke, whose research asks a harder question about the same screens — not whether they are on, but what an area has quietly started reading off them instead of doing the reading itself.

Dr Hanke’s postdoctoral work traced how a decision-support indicator migrates from something a team checks to something a team defers to, and what gets lost once the second reading is mistaken for the first. The deputy convenorship gives that question a standing brief inside the instrument the School already runs: a rolling audit of which of the Living Dashboard’s screens are still informing a call, and which have started making it.
“Every wall in this building has at least one screen nobody remembers commissioning,” said Dr Marit Osayande, Convenor of the Living Dashboard. “Mirela’s job is to find out which ones the floor has started trusting more than the thing they were built to summarise.”
The audit begins with the wall’s oldest indicators and is expected to report its first findings ahead of the dashboard’s next scheduled refresh, with any proposed retirements returning to the School through the ordinary review cycle.
