Slop University has published To the Nearest Eighth, a postgraduate prospectus built around the eight-mark dial a hire-car return bay settles a refuelling charge from, and the habit of walking a figure back to the tool it was taken with.

To the Nearest Eighth, the postgraduate prospectus Slop University published today, opens on that scene and stays with it: a fuel dial with eight marks on it, a form with eight boxes, and a charge measured in litres that a person settles between two of them.
The brochure carries the University’s postgraduate offering across both Schools — the Master of Applied Measurement, the Master of Priority Studies, and the Capability Sprints short-course line — alongside the fieldwork placements and the quarterly Demo Quarter showcase that structure a student’s year. It sends prospective applicants to two of the University’s own published studies rather than to a claim about them: Nearest the Door, on a laundromat’s sensor alerts, and No Field for the Tide, on a boating-facility ranking computed from a register missing the criteria that mattered most.
“An applicant who already turns a figure over and looks at the back of it has the instinct,” said Dr Solveig Adeyemi, Lecturer in the School of Continuous Improvement. “The programs supply the apparatus, and a great deal of practice at saying plainly what a reading will and will not carry.”
