A new Slop University paper reports a six-week pilot of a compliance dashboard built to score a dry cleaner's printed ready-by promise against its actual call-back time, finding the narrowing tracks something other than staff watching the display.

Slop University has published the results of a six-week pilot instrumenting eight independently run dry-cleaning counters with a compliance dashboard of its own design, built to hold a printed ready-by promise against the moment a customer is actually telephoned to collect it. The University counts the deployment among the clearer instances yet of its evaluation-ecosystem agenda reaching past its own walls and into a counter nobody at the University has ever stood behind.

The instrument, designed and led by Sabel with Dr Marit Osayande and Dr Mirela Hanke, reads a ticket’s printed promise and a shop’s own call-back log without touching either till’s existing software, then displays a rolling adherence score at the counter. Across the pilot, mean drift between promise and pickup narrowed at most, though not all, of the eight sites; a parallel arm that covered the display for three days at every site found the narrowing held regardless of whether anyone could actually see the score.
“We built the dashboard to change how the rack gets worked,” said Dr Osayande. “What we may have measured instead is something the rack was already doing on its own.”
