A new Slop University advertising campaign for Capability Sprints turns a post-module phone call into its recruitment pitch, joining the bus-stop panel and campus digital signage rotations.
A new campaign for the School of Continuous Improvement puts an unscripted phone call at the end of every finished module
A Capability Sprint used to end at the certificate. The School of Continuous Improvement’s newest campaign marks the point where, this intake, it doesn’t: a phone call, placed without warning after the last module closes, asking the graduate to say back what the course was actually for.
A course that ends with a certificate has already told you it expects no further questions. We wanted to know what happens if it asks one anyway.

Unveiled today under the line “The Certificate Isn’t Where It Ends,” the campaign stages a Capability Sprints participant stepping out of a live workshop to take the call, notebook still in hand, the session continuing without them through the glass behind. It joins the University’s bus-stop panel and campus digital signage rotations, part of the School of Continuous Improvement’s wider evaluation-ecosystem agenda.
“Most of what a Sprint teaches doesn’t survive contact with an ordinary desk,” said Dr Ingeborg Nwachukwu, Lecturer and Convenor of Capability Sprints. “The call isn’t a test. It’s the University finally following up on that, out loud, instead of just publishing another paper about it.”
Capability Sprints is now taking enrolments for its next intake. The full advertisement is available from the University’s research repository under an open licence, doi:10.5555/slop.sazh9h.
