Six packing sheds, one growers’ cooperative, and a season’s worth of site codes that matched from the first row of the spreadsheet to the last: that is what has earned the University’s Office of Research Outputs its Deposit of the Quarter Prize.
The Office has awarded the Prize to Dr Ingeborg Nwachukwu, Lecturer and Convenor of Capability Sprints, School of Continuous Improvement, for the deposit lodged behind The Same Apple, Twice. The poster re-presents 3,880 individually tagged fruit to the same grader later in a shift, across six sheds of one cooperative over an eleven-week season; the deposit records every shed under one stable code, entered once and never touched again once the season’s data was in.
A grading study that cannot tell its own sheds apart is not one study, it is six of them stapled together. The codes were the one part of the file I refused to leave for later.

Co-author Dr Osei Vandermeer, Research Fellow and Convenor of the Review Cadence Observatory, welcomed the recognition: “a finding travels only as far as a reader can trust which shed a number came from. Getting that right once, at the start, is the unglamorous half of the job.”
The Office reviews each quarter’s deposits on how little they ask of whoever opens the file next, and reports that this one asked for nothing. The Prize carries $31,752, and a set of site codes the Office found nothing to fix.
