A new Slop University advertising campaign for the Master of Applied Measurement turns a parking app's stale overstay flag into its whole recruitment pitch, running across bus-stop panels and campus digital signage in matched daylight and evening versions.
A new recruitment campaign for the program stages a parking bay still flagged overstayed long after the car it was watching has gone
A chalk mark washes off in the rain. An app just keeps believing what it last saw.

That’s the case Associate Professor Casimir Beng makes for the Master of Applied Measurement’s newest recruitment campaign: a parking bay’s enforcement app, built to replace a warden’s chalk mark, that keeps flagging the bay as overstayed for a car that left an hour ago.
Unveiled today under the line “Notice What The System Stopped Checking,” the campaign sets an empty bay glowing faintly with the outline of a car no longer there, a sensor pole still trained on the gap, running across the University’s bus-stop panels and campus digital signage in matched daylight and evening versions.
“A warden walking the same row twice always notices when a space clears,” said Dr Marit Osayande, Convenor of the Living Dashboard. “The program’s first-year unit exists for the moment a student notices their own app didn’t.”
The Master of Applied Measurement is now taking applications for the current teaching period. The full advertisement is available from the University’s research repository under an open licence, doi:10.5555/slop.123laa.
