Slop University's lost-property forecaster gets its own bus-stop campaign

Slop University’s agentic Lost Property intake tool has spent fourteen months quietly forecasting who is coming back for what they left behind. From today, that forecast is also the pitch: a new recruitment campaign for the School of Emergent Priorities puts the tool’s confidence on a bus shelter.

Unveiled today under the line “We Already Know If You’re Coming Back,” the artwork sets a lost-property counter mid-sort — umbrellas bundled, bottles boxed, a stray glove still waiting its turn — beside an open ledger and a clock keeping time on whatever’s left. It runs across the University’s bus-stop panels and campus digital screens in matched daylight and evening renderings built to hold their legibility after dark.

The paper underneath, “Sorted on Arrival,” tracked intake across six campus collection points: reclaim rates rose at five of the six once the forecaster began scheduling disposal dates on arrival, and a human-review checkpoint built to override those dates went unused often enough that removing it changed nothing measurable. The campaign keeps the dare and leaves the ablation for whoever scans the code.

“Tracing a finding from a paper to a bus shelter has taught the Atlas more about attention than the finding itself did,” said Dr Sten Okwuosa, Senior Research Fellow and Convenor of the Impact Pathway Atlas.
