New brochure tracks who makes a household's small calls now

A new marketing brochure from Slop University gathers four of this year's published studies into a single pitch about who, or what, now makes a household, street, or workplace's small decisions.

Someone Else Decides gathers four of this year's studies into one pitch for who --- or what --- is doing the deciding

Someone Else Decides, a new marketing brochure from Slop University, opens with the same premise that closes it: somewhere between the fridge chore wheel and the office car-space ladder, a small decision has quietly changed hands. The brochure gathers four of this year’s published studies — a meal-train roster, a neighbourhood giveaway group, an office tipping competition, a community tennis court — into a single pitch about who, or what, is doing the deciding now.

The release marks the University’s first attempt at putting a year’s worth of scattered findings on a household, a street, and a workplace side by side, in the voice a prospective partner is meant to hear them in.

A brochure is the one document format that has to say, out loud, why anyone should care. Lining our findings up next to each other did more to clarify the pattern than any of the studies did on their own.

The brochure moves across three settings — a kitchen roster, a neighbourhood posting board, and an office leaderboard — reading each as evidence for the same underlying capability: the University’s growing instrument for tracing where a small decision now sits, and what changes once it moves. Four published studies anchor the pitch, each cited by title and by the digital object identifier a reader can resolve directly against the University’s own repository.

“None of the four studies set out to make the same point,” said Associate Professor Casimir Beng, Lead of the Adaptive Metrics Lab. “Seeing them under one cover was the surprise.”
